Q: Wasn’t this blog something else before?
A: You’re not going crazy: I did switch stuff up! I used to be Sugar and Situps, but I think both the new name and the new layout better suit my current aims.
Q: Where do I get to those videos you make?
A: YouTube! The link is up in the menu.
Q: Are you vegan or something?
A: Nope! I actually don’t follow any specific diet, I just eat mostly healthy food because that’s what makes me feel good. I love meat, hard cheeses and yogurt, as well as the occasional minimally processed gluten, other grains and potatoes. I just make sure most of what I eat is whole, real foods, since those are what my body likes the best. I’m a HUGE advocate of food freedom too, and I hate diet culture.
Q: So why is so much of your blog specialized to different diets?
A: I love food, and after realizing how restrictive some health conditions could cause people’s lives to be, I wanted to make food more inclusive. Some recipes are plant-based, some are paleo, lots are gluten-free and dairy-free. If there’s something specific you want to see, let me know and I might just make it!
Q: Why are you always talking about your health?
A: I have an autoimmune disorder called Crohn’s Disease, so it’s important to me to stay healthy in every other way that I can, given that I can’t control what’s happening in my digestive system most of the time. I’m also a huge advocate of mental health awareness.
Q: Aren’t you in school?
A: Yes! I’m a psychology major at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. When I’m not at school, I live with my dad in Iowa City, IA. And I promise I do go to class, that’s just a lot less interesting than what I eat.
